GlobalProtect VPN (Virtual Private Network) is the software required to access the CSUMB network remotely. GlobalProtect VPN allows you to access secure CSUMB resources from off-campus. A VPN connection also allows the user to send and receive data remotely across public networks as if they were physically connected to the CSUMB network. This service also provides additional security protection for your device when you are not on the CSUMB network.

To use GlobalProtect VPN For MacOS:
Download and install GlobalProtect VPN software for MacOS
- For CSUMB owned/managed computers, you can use our Self Service Software Installation for Mac to install GlobalProtect Client VPN software. If you have problems doing it yourself, you can submit a software install service ticket to get the GlobalProtect Client VPN software installed or updated.
- For personally owned computers you can download the software.
- Download the software for your computer: GlobalProtect VPN for Mac
- Find the GlobalProtect.pkg installer on your computer. It will usually be in the downloads folder (or other folder as specified by your web browser).
- Double-click the GlobalProtect.pkg installer and click Next to run through the installer to install the software on the computer.
Configure and connect to the CSUMB GlobalProtect VPN
- Click on the GlobalProtect icon (the globle) located on the right side of the top menu bar on your mac desktop.
- In the Portal field type vpn.csumb.edu
- Click Connect.

- After the GlobalProtect software connects a window will launch containing the okta login box:
- Log in using your CSUMB username (otterID) and password and click Sign In. The window will disappear after you login correctly.
- You are now connected to the CSUMB GlobalProtect VPN and can utilize on-campus resources.

Disconnect from GlobalProtect VPN
When you are done using the CSUMB GlobalProtect VPN you can disconnect by clicking the globe icon on the upper-right of your top desktop menu bar. When the VPN box comes up click the Disconnect button near the bottom of the box:

Reminder: Saving all documents to the cloud instead of your computer can be a lifesaver, especially if you are having an issue with your CSUMB computer and the computer needs to be swapped out.
