Logging into CSU Learn (SumTotal)
If You Are Unable to Log Into CSU Learn (SumTotal)
- Verify employee is active.
- In order for a student, staff, or faculty member to have access to CSU Learn, it must be after their effective date. An employee's effective date ensures the student, staff, or faculty member has an active status, and they will be loaded into CSU Learn after they are active. Allow 3 days for CSU Learn access to take effect after the effective date.
- Persons of Interest (POI) can be granted access to CSU Learn:
Please contact Human Resources or University Corporation Human Resources to verify effective date or that paperwork has been processed.
If you've verified that your employee is active or your POI paperwork has been processed, and you are still not able to access CSU Learn please submit a ticket with the CSU's Chancellor's Office (Service Now).
CSU Learn (SumTotal) Tips
- CSU Learn trainings are currently available on PCs and Laptops.
- The time frame from effective date (entered into CMS) to CSU Learn accessibility is usually 3 business days. This usually applies to new hires and new POIs. If you are a current employee and have been assigned a training, access is typically available the next business day.
- It is best to access CSU Learn using the Google Chrome web browser from the CSUMB Dashboard.
- Using Firefox might be helpful as well.
- If you're having issues try releasing your browser's history or cache.
- A majority of the trainings are available for self-assigning. We auto-assign a few trainings for new hires, and any other mandatory trainings by request.
- When you begin a new training, make sure to keep all windows open to stay connected.
When You Are Assigned Training
- You will get an email from CSU Learn that will contain a link to your CSU Learn dashboard.
- Log into the CSU Learn dashboard using your CSUMB username and password.
- Access the courses from Assigned Learning menu.
- Once you have completed a course, you will receive a certificate of completion. Please print this certificate for your records. You may be asked to submit it as proof of training completion.
- You will receive email notifications when your training due date is one month away and when it is past due.
