Residence Hall Device Registration

This service allows students to register devices on the CSUMB network in the Residence Halls. Students can access both wired and wireless networks after registering their devices. Registration is valid for one year.

How do I register my device:

A. Wired port access (Residential Hall):

1. Devices with browser support.

  • Connect your ethernet cable either to RJ45 port on the wall or to the RJ45 port on HP/Aruba Access Point. Then browse the internet. Your browser will be redirected to our captive portal, login using  your OtterID and complete the registration.

2. Devices without browser support.

  • For some devices, like gaming console, smart TV’s and other audio/video devices, you can register thru CSUMB Device Registration.
  • Login using your OtterID and provide your device ethernet mac address. Refer to your device support on how to get the mac address.

B. Wireless access (Campuswide):

1. Devices with WPA2-enterpise wifi security support:

  • For laptops, desktops and smartphones which support WPA2-enterprise, no need to register your device.
  • Configure your wifi profile with the following settings:

SSID/NAME: CSUMB
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise - AES
Authentication: PEAP/MSCHAPv2
Depending on your operating system, there could be some additional settings.

Connect to “CSUMB” wireless network. Login using your OtterID.

2. Devices without WPA2-enterprise support.

  • For some devices, like gaming console, smart TV’s and other audio/video devices, you can register thru CSUMB Device Registration.
  • Then connect to “CSUMB Guest” wireless network. Your device can access the internet but no access to campus private network.

How to manage registered devices:
