Google Shared Drives

Summary

Use shared drives in Google Drive share files with a team

Body

You can use Shared drives in Google Drive to store, search, and access files with a team or group of people. Shared drives files belong to the team instead of an individual. Even if members leave the university, the files stored in the share drive stay in place so your team can keep sharing information and work anywhere, from any device. Access to Google Shared Drives are determined by the department, manager, or other designated employee.

Share drives are 25 GB drives and unlike docs in My Drive, docs stored in the Google Share drive do not get removed when the owners leave the university.

Access

If you want to use a shared drive, we recommend a department head, Faculty, or principal investigator on a grant put in a file sharing ticket.

You should then give all additional users "Contributor" or "Content Manager" access.

Google Shared drive permissions

This will ensure that users will not be allowed to share files from your shared drive with other users.
