IT Project Scoring Rubric

The IT Project Scoring Rubric was adapted from the rubric used by the Cal Poly Humboldt Project Management Office who has successfully implemented the project prioritization process for several years.

Rubric Criteria:

  • 14 Questions are asked of each project in five (5) weighted categories:
    • Alignment with University Strategic Objectives (25%)
    • Benefit to University Operations (25%)
    • Value to University Operations (20%)
    • Impact of University budget (15%)
    • Technology System Risk (15%)
  • The Project Request and Scope are designed to answer these questions.

Use of the Rubric:

  • The Rubric will be used as a tool, as needed if the IT Project Management Office (PMO) identifies a conflict or lack of resources for a requested project given the requested timeline.
