Employee Computer Configuration Standards

This standard outlines the computer standards for faculty and staff computers at CSUMB. The specific macOS and Windows configurations are recommended and supported by IT and are consistent with CSU hardware recommendations and the CSUMB standard operating environment.

Standard Configurations

Windows HP ProBook 440 Laptop

  • 14-inch screen
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 256 GB Solid State Drive
  • i5 or better processor
  • Built-in webcam
  • Built-in speakers, microphone & headphone jack
  • Built-in Ethernet
  • Built-in HDMI out (for external monitors)
  • Built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Three USB 3 ports, One USB-C port
  • Laptop charger
  • Windows 11
  • USB-C hub/dock
  • 24-inch monitor
  • Wired keyboard/mouse

macOS MacBook Air Laptop

  • 13-inch screen
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 256 GB Solid State Drive
  • M2 or better processor
  • Built-in webcam
  • Built-in speakers, microphone & headphone jack
  • Built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports

  • macOS Sonoma or newer
  • USB-C hub/dock
  • 24-inch monitor

Non-Standard Configurations and Accessories

Funding for configurations outside/above these standards are the responsibility of the department. This also includes the purchase of extra laptop chargers, second or larger monitors, cables, enhanced hubs, carrying cases, outlets strips, etc.

Please submit a quote request for non-standard computer hardware and accessories. Once the request is received, we will consult with the customer and the re-seller or vendor representative as-needed.

Reminder: Saving all documents to the cloud instead of your computer can be a lifesaver, especially if you are having an issue with your CSUMB computer and the computer needs to be swapped out.
