We will then check with the resellers to determine what's available and the lead time for order fulfillment. Use the information below to determine which model will work best for your needs.
Laptop-First Strategy
Starting in the Spring of 2020, in support of CSUMB’s mobile work and hybrid learning environments, the University has shifted to a laptop-first strategy for all employees. When a University-issued computer is purchased, issued or needs to be upgraded or replaced, it will be replaced with a laptop.
We can provide quotes for a laptop, USB-C hub/dock, monitor, keyboard and mouse so that it will work like a desktop when you are in the office but still provide you with mobility when needed.
Exceptions to the laptop-only rule will be handled on a case-by-case basis and support is not provided for hardware that is purchased outside this process.
HP Windows laptops
- HP ProBook 440. Standard Windows laptop used at CSUMB and comes with a 14" screen. It's light and portable and can be easily hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse and monitor.
- HP ProBook 450. Windows laptop with a larger 15" screen.
- HP Monitors. Quote includes standard monitor options.
Individual components for key components (e.g. docking stations, mice and keyboards) can be ordered using the information in one of the quotes provided here.
Support is not provided for hardware that is purchased outside this process.
Apple macOS laptop quotes
- MacBook 13". Standard Apple MacBook Air laptop used at CSUMB and comes with a 13" screen. It's light and very portable and can be easily hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse and monitor using an adapter
- MacBook 16". Apple MacBook laptop with a larger 16" screen and can be easily hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse and monitor using an adapter
- HP Monitors. Quote includes standard monitor options that can connect to a MacBook .
An Anker USB-C hub/dock should be purchased when buying any MacBook. It includes HDMI, USB-A (two) and Ethernet ports.
