Overview

Campus Data Warehouse is the central repository for CSU Monterey Bay's institutional student data. It displays our student data in many ways including interactive reports, dashboards and visualizations. The main purpose of Campus Data Warehouse is to assist the university make informed decisions leading to student success.

New Campus Data Warehouse Features

The Campus Data Warehouse modernization project, completed in July 2024, has given our data warehouse a new look with many new features, enhanced flexibility, and increased security. Here are several highlights we’re excited about:

  • Improved overall performance.
  • A modern user interface.
  • A richer set of reporting filters and controls.
  • All browser buttons work as intended.
  • VPN is no longer needed to access Campus Data Warehouse. 

Pro Tip: While we still call it Campus Data Warehouse, inside of the product you’ll see it branded as our product vendor, QuickSight.

How Do I Log In?

You log into Campus Data Warehouse by clicking on the Campus Data Warehouse app in your CSUMB Dashboard.

Using it the first time

Logging into Campus Data Warehouse the first time can be overwhelming because it logs you into a view with all available dashboards for your security role. This can be confusing on where to start.

Instead, we suggest favoriting the Navigation and Help dashboard the first time you log in, which will change the initial view in subsequent Campus Data Warehouse uses.

Once you’ve logged in, enter the word “Navigation” in the search bar on the upper right then click the magnifying glass icon.

Click on the star next to the Navigation and Help dashboard:

The next time you log into Campus Data Warehouse you’ll be taken to the favorites screen where you can select the Navigation and Help dashboard instead of seeing the list of all dashboards.

Pro Tip: Any dashboards or visualizations that you use regularly can be favorited and will also show on this login screen. 

Different Dashboard Views

Within the Navigation and Help dashboard there are three main views:

The featured list, which is a curated list of dashboards with broad applicability across campus. To get to it, open the Navigation and Help Dashboard and select Featured:

Dashboards by role view allows you to see dashboards depending on a role you select:

The All Dashboards view shows all dashboards your security role has access to, organized by topic:

Pro Tip: To open a dashboard just click on the Click to navigate link in the Link column on the right.

Pro Tip: You can use the Topic navigation box on the left to filter out the topics of dashboards you are or are not interested in. It will show only the dashboards from the topics list that are checked.

Under the Fold (Scroll Down)

In the Navigation and Help dashboard be sure to scroll to the bottom of the dashboard (under the fold) to see important help documents, tickets you can submit and most importantly the last refresh date:
