Signing In: Microsoft 365

Overview

CSUMB students and faculty have access to Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) on personal computers. Your CSUMB Microsoft Account uses Single Sign-On (SSO) to log in.

  • Current CSUMB students and faculty get Microsoft 365, formerly Office 365, accounts automatically. You obtain access by going to http://office.com and signing in with your CSUMB credentials.

  • Current CSUMB staff do not automatically get Microsoft 365 access. If they need access to Microsoft 365 on their personal machines they will need to submit a service ticket.

Note: This does not affect CSUMB-issued computers.

Signing in to Microsoft 365

If you leave CSUMB, graduate or are no longer an active CSUMB student or employee, you will lose access to Microsoft 365 services and any stored data will be deleted and can’t be recovered.

When presented with the Microsoft 365 Sign in box place your CSUMB email address (not your username) into the sign in field:

Microsoft login box with jotter@csumb.edu in the sign in box.

Click Next button and you will be taken to the CSUMB Okta sign in box:

Okta Login Box with username otte6789 and disguised password.

Enter your CSUMB Username and Password in the corresponding fields and click Sign In.

You will then be taken to the Microsoft365 product you were signing into.

If you have signed up for a personal Microsoft account using your CSUMB email address

If you have signed up for a personal Microsoft account using your csumb.edu email address you will be asked which kind of account you are signing into.

  • Choose Work or school account for your CSUMB.edu account.
  • Choose Personal account to access an account you may have created with your CSUMB credentials.

Note: If you have signed up for a personal Microsoft account you will want to log into that account and change the email address or you may lose access to the account after leaving CSUMB.

Microsoft box asking which account you want to use: Work or School account created by your IT Department or Personal account created by you.
