What is an Information Technology (IT) Service?

• Assistance that has a due date or an implementation timeline (e.g., install a new a computer)
• Requires action on the part of IT staff (e.g., provide administrative access)
• May require coordination of more than one department (e.g., installing computer or AV equipment in a new location)
• Is a recurring service by the Department (e.g., installation of digital signs, commencement set-up)
• It is not a service, if it is:
  • Not in the IT Service Catalog
  • Not tracked as a service (e.g., consultation, training)
