Firewalls prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private information and internal network resources. While at the same time permitting access to authorized users and systems by the use of access lists or permissions. Firewall permissions needs to be requested by any individual that wishes to have access to a server or network.

• CSUMB utilizes state-of-the-art Next Generation Firewalls to protect CSUMB's production networks against current and emerging internet threats.
• Security Is managed centrally by IT@CSUMB for the benefit of the CSUMB community.

Features and Benefits: 

• This service provides real-time analysis ot all non-encrypted IP network traffic between CSUMB and the Internet and blocks traffic which is known to be malicious.

Who can use it: 

• Everyone at CSUMB is protected.

How do I get it: 

• Firewall protection is enabled by default for all users on CSUMB's network.  
• Changes may be requested through the Self Service Portal.
• Manager approval is required.  Manager Approval is now obtained by ticket router. A form is no longer required.

How much does it cost: 

• There is no charge for Campus Network Security.

• CSUMB Blocks all known Internet Viruses, Botnets, Trojans, DDOS Attacks, Malicious Files, URLs and Networks from connecting to CSUMB's Production Network at our Border Firewalls.
• All known threats and attacks from the Internet aimed at CSUMB's internal networks are blocked by default.
• All known threats and attacks from inside CSUMB's network which are aimed at the Internet are also blocked by default.
• CSUMB's Data centers and Servers are protected by their own Firewalls with additional security for accessing critical resources.
