Checklist for Students Graduating or Leaving CSUMB

Things you should know

  • All of your CSUMB student accounts including your Google account (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc.) will be deleted 180-days after you graduate.
  • Undergraduate, 2nd BA and credential students are discontinued after two consecutive terms (fall/spring or spring/fall) without enrollment or an approved leave of absence. Graduate students are discontinued after one term (spring or fall) without enrollment or an approved leave of absence. (See: Graduation Requirements and Catalog Rights Policy)
  • Once your accounts are deleted there is no way to recover or access any contents from that account.

Things you should do

Email/Drive

  • Forward all important emails and download all important Drive files stored in your CSUMB Google account prior to leaving CSUMB.
    • After forwarding/downloading important files, you can also use Google Takeout to create an archive of your email, documents, calendar, photos, and YouTube videos. Important note: Takeout is not supported by CSUMB or Google so success of this is not guaranteed.
      • This archives the email messages into a .mbox file. Once downloaded you will need to use a client that supports opening a mbox file. You can open mbox files using a variety of standard email clients. Read how to open your mbox file using Thunderbird (free from Mozilla).
  • Change your email address for any personal accounts you log into with your CSUMB email address for such as banking, Netflix, Amazon, gaming or other online accounts. Also change the email address for accounts using your CSUMB email as the recovery email address.
  • Complete the Information Update Form to stay in touch and receive new information about the Alumni Association and CSUMB. For more information or questions, please email the Alumni Relations Office.
  • Setup email forwarding on your CSUMB Gmail account to your personal email account. Note: This will only work until your account is deleted.
  • Setup an auto-reply on your CSUMB Gmail account to notify people that you are leaving CSUMB. Note: This will only work until your account is deleted.
  • Sign up for a free @alumni.csumb.edu forwarding address. This is not an email account, instead mail sent to @alumni.csumb.edu accounts is directly forwarded to your personal account. Read more about it on the FAQ for the Alumni email forwarding address. Note: Setting up this account does not forward csumb.edu mail.

Adobe

Canvas

  • Save any documents or work from the learning management systems, such as Canvas.

Transcripts

  • Print out an unofficial transcript. After graduating or otherwise leaving the university your only options for transcripts will be to order official ones.
