Recording Greetings on the ESNA Officelinx Voicemail System

The ESNA Officelinx voicemail system supports numerous greetings that are tied to your Location setting.  You will need to change your Location to change your greeting.  Please see the Knowledge Base article Using Locations to Control Greetings and Call Forwarding on the ESNA Officelinx Voicemail System for more information on how to use the Location settings.

There are two ways to record voicemail greeting:

  • Telephone User Interface (TUI) - use the voicemail button on your phone or dial x5999 (831-582-5999 from off campus) to access the TUI to record greetings.  From the main menu, selection option 4 (Mailbox Options) and then option 1 (Record Greetings).  Please see the Knowledge Base article ESNA Officelinx Voicemail System User Guides for more information about using the TUI to manage voicemail settings.
  • Web Portal - use the Greetings box under the Messaging column to record greetings through your computer.  Please see the Knowledge Base article How to Login to the ESNA Officelinx Web Portal for help logging into the web portal.

While it is possible to record greetings using your computer, we recommend recording greetings through the TUI for the best audio quality.  When a greeting is recorded using the web portal, the audio file will be resampled to a new format, G.711 mu-law at 8000 Hz (toll quality).  This can result in audio clipping and significant audio quality degradation.  Using the telephone to record greetings allows the recording to be made at lower fidelity which improves sound quality after the sample conversion.

Please note: If you're attempting to record greetings for a voicemail box that does not match your extension number, you will need to press * when you are prompted for your password in order to enter the desired voicemail box number.  Or, if you're dialing from off-campus or an extension that doesn't have a voicemail box, press # at the main greeting to enter the desired voicemail box number.
